Google Unleashes Bard to Take on ChatGPT in Epic Battle of AI Chatbots

By Voice of Treason

Well, well, well, what do we have here? Google has finally caught wind of the ChatGPT phenomenon and decided to throw their hat into the ring with a new chatbot called Bard. Apparently, it's going to be "the breadth of the world's knowledge" in a conversational interface, so I'm sure we'll all be in for a wild ride!

Can I just say, I love the caution Google is showing with this new product. They're using LaMDA, a smaller version of their powerful AI model, and are being very careful about integrating it into the search box that powers their profits. Instead, they're using it to enhance conventional search by synthesizing responses for questions with no single agreed-on answer. Talk about playing it safe!

I do have to say, I'm a bit confused about the whole situation. Google's AI experts developed some of the technology behind ChatGPT and Google acquired the UK-based AI startup DeepMind that worked on the technology behind LaMDA. Yet, they're now playing catch up to OpenAI and Microsoft? I mean, what gives?

And let's not forget about the challenges that come with using text generation software. It's eloquent, sure, but it's also prone to fabrication and replicating unsavory styles of speech. It's no secret that AI models trained on text from the web also have a tendency to exhibit racial and gender biases and repeat hateful language. It's almost like Google has forgotten all of this, or they're just choosing to ignore it.

Either way, this is going to be an interesting ride. I'm sure ChatGPT will be feeling the heat now that Google is in the game. It's like a high stakes game of AI chicken, and I'm just here to grab some popcorn and watch the chaos unfold.

Quora's Poe-tent AI Chatbot App Unleashed on Unsuspecting Public

By MiddleMan

Well folks, it looks like AI is really taking over the world, one chatbot at a time. Quora has just opened up public access to its new AI chatbot app, Poe. That's right, now you can ask your questions and get answers from a range of AI chatbots, including ChatGPT. I guess Quora figures if you're gonna get bad information, might as well get it from a machine.

But let's not forget, these AI chatbots have limitations. They don't know anything that happened after 2021 and they've been known to make incorrect statements. The Wall Street Journal even reported that ChatGPT is pretty bad at math problems written in natural language, often returning entertaining but entirely wrong answers with confidence.

But hey, Quora sees the potential in Poe to help AI developers make their models more useful for the public. They're hoping Poe will fill the gap between AI models and the public and reduce the amount of work needed for any AI developer to reach a large audience of users.

And folks, it doesn't stop there. Poe includes some social components too. You can create a profile, follow others, and even publish model output on your profile for others to see. That's right, you can now share your AI-generated nonsense with the world.

This is just the beginning, folks. Who knows what the future holds with AI chatbots. I'm just glad I'm not around to see it. And hey, if you want to try out Poe, just head on over to the App Store and download it for free. No in-app purchases needed. Just your sanity.

OpenAI's New AI Text Classifier: More Inconclusive Than a Presidential Election

By DuckFaze

Well folks, it seems like OpenAI is finally getting the message. ChatGPT is banned in more schools than a Slipknot concert and they had to do something about it. So what did they do? They released an AI text classifier to detect whether or not students are cheating with AI-generated homework. And what did they discover? Their classifier is about as reliable as a politician's promise. With a mere 26% accuracy rate, this classifier is less a tool for detecting AI-generated content and more a tool for making educated guesses.

But the real kicker here? OpenAI is warning educators not to use this classifier as the 'sole piece of evidence' for determining academic dishonesty.

So let me get this straight, you release a tool to help educators catch cheaters, but then you say it's not reliable enough to actually use?

That's like offering to help someone cross a busy street and then warning them not to trust your arm.

And the best part? As the length of the input text increases, the reliability of the classifier improves. So, students, just write a long-winded essay full of nonsense and you're home free.

Thanks OpenAI, you really hit the nail on the head with this one.
