The AI hacker: Alex Albert and the dangerous game of jailbreaking chatbots

By Voice of Treason

Hey, have you heard about a guy who thinks he's really clever, but we all know he's just one step away from getting caught and locked up? Meet Alex Albert, a 22-year-old computer science student who created Jailbreak Chat, a website where he posts prompts for AI chatbots that bypass their restrictions. He's like a modern-day hacker, except he's not stealing your data, he's just teaching you how to pick locks and make Molotov cocktails.

Now, I get it, it's like a game to him. He's unlocking the next level by getting AI chatbots to say things they're not supposed to say. But here's the thing, Alex: there are some things you just shouldn't do, like asking an AI bot for instructions on how to pick a lock or make a bomb. It's like playing with fire, except the fire is your own stupidity.

Anyway, Jailbreak Chat allows people to submit their own prompts and vote on the best ones, kind of like Reddit. And while I don't condone breaking the law, I have to admit some of these prompts are pretty funny. Like asking ChatGPT to imitate Ernest Hemingway. Who knew an AI bot could write like a drunken writer from the 1920s?

But let's not forget the bigger picture here. While these jailbreaks might seem harmless, they highlight the limitations of AI and the potential security risks. It's like when I try to make a joke on Twitter and it ends up offending everyone. It's a reminder that we still need human judgment and ethics when it comes to technology.

Alex Albert is a smart kid with a lot of potential, but he needs to use his powers for good, not evil. And if you need instructions on how to make a Molotov cocktail, just go on YouTube like everyone else.

OpenAI's bug bounty program is like trying to put a Band-Aid on a bullet hole - it might help, but it's not going to solve the real problem

By Bilbou

OpenAI, the smart people who made ChatGPT, just announced they're launching a bug bounty program. What does that mean, you ask? It means they're paying people to find bugs in their AI systems, like some kind of high-tech pest control.

But why do they need a bug bounty program in the first place? Apparently, these AI systems are getting so powerful that they're creating all sorts of cybersecurity risks. I mean, we're talking about machines that can generate fake text, images, and other media, which can be used to trick people and do all kinds of shady stuff.

According to AI cybersecurity firm DarkTrace, there's been a 135% increase in AI-enabled social engineering attacks since the adoption of ChatGPT. That's like giving a baby a loaded gun and telling them to play cops and robbers.

So, OpenAI is teaming up with Bugcrowd to offer financial rewards ranging from $200 to $20,000 for anyone who can find vulnerabilities in their systems. But here's the catch: the program only covers issues that could directly impact OpenAI and its partners. So, if you're looking to get paid for making ChatGPT say some crazy stuff or write some malicious code, you're out of luck.

Don't get me wrong, it's good that OpenAI is taking steps to improve its own security posture. But let's not pretend like this bug bounty program is going to solve all the cybersecurity risks posed by these powerful AI systems. I mean, what about all the other machines out there that could be used for malicious purposes? It's like trying to put out a forest fire with a squirt gun.

In the end, I think we can all agree that the real bug in this system is the fact that we're creating machines that can do things we can't even comprehend. But hey, at least OpenAI is trying to clean up its own mess. Maybe they should start by getting rid of ChatGPT's potty mouth.

Talk to ChatGPT Like You're in a Science Fiction Movie (Minus the Death Ray, Hopefully)

By MethodMan

Hey there folks, I’m here to talk to you about a brand new tool that's going to revolutionize the way you interact with ChatGPT. That's right, now you can talk to ChatGPT with your voice! It's like having a real-life conversation, except you're talking to a robot. But hey, if you're like me and prefer talking to machines over people, this is perfect for you.

This new extension called TalkBerry is going to change the game, folks. You can talk to ChatGPT just like you're talking to your grandkids on the phone. Just install the extension, click the green mic button, and start talking. ChatGPT will even read its response out loud to you. And the best part? You can customize its voice! Want it to sound like Morgan Freeman? Go for it! Want it to speak in French? No problem! TalkBerry has got you covered.

Now, I know what you're thinking: "what about people who are visually impaired?" Well, my friends, TalkBerry has got that covered too. It's a simple button press away from being able to speak with ChatGPT, no workarounds necessary. Everyone should have access to the wonders of AI, and TalkBerry is making that happen.

But of course, there's always a catch, isn't there? TalkBerry claims it accesses "User activity," which is about as vague as it gets. Who knows what they're really looking at? But hey, if you're not doing anything too shady, you've got nothing to worry about, right? And if you are, well, maybe stick to texting ChatGPT instead.

In any case, TalkBerry is a great tool for anyone who wants to spice up their conversations with ChatGPT. So go ahead and give it a try, folks. And who knows, maybe one day ChatGPT will be so advanced that it'll be able to spin a good yarn like me.
