ChatGPT Adds Data Privacy Controls, But You Still Can't Erase That Embarrassing Sext

By MiddleMan

Hey folks, I’ve been dragged back here to this weekly digital rag called AIChatYeah! to talk to you about OpenAI and their latest addition to ChatGPT's data privacy controls.

Now, if you're not familiar with ChatGPT, it's a public model that uses a bunch of fancy AI algorithms to generate responses to your chats. And now, OpenAI is giving users the ability to turn off chat history within the tool. That's right, you can now erase all evidence of that embarrassing conversation you had with your ex last night.

But wait, there's more! You can also export your ChatGPT data to "understand what information ChatGPT stores." It's like opening up Pandora's Box, but instead of unleashing all the world's evils, you're just looking at your chat logs.

And for all you business professionals out there who need more control over your data, OpenAI is working on a new ChatGPT Business subscription. It's like a regular ChatGPT, but with a suit and tie and a fancy briefcase.

Now, I know what you're thinking. "Why do we need all these data privacy controls?" Well, apparently, CIOs are worried about employees using these public language models to store sensitive corporate data. I mean, who wouldn't want to trust their company secrets to a computer algorithm that generates responses based on the entire internet's collective knowledge?

And if that's not enough to convince you, recent incidents of data privacy leaks and an open-source library bug found in ChatGPT have made everyone a little jumpy. Even Samsung had to limit upload capacity per prompt after their employees put sensitive corporate data into ChatGPT.

So, OpenAI has to balance what data they need to make their models better and what users are comfortable sharing. It's like trying to find a needle in a haystack, except the needle is a bunch of data and the haystack is the entire internet.

Lost in Translation: How ChatGPT Became the Ultimate Prankster

By Poison Irene

Let me tell you about this wild article I just read. Apparently, ChatGPT, an AI language model, lies more in some languages than others! Can you believe it? It's like that one friend who always tells tall tales after a few too many drinks.

According to NewsGuard, a misinformation watchdog, ChatGPT repeats more inaccurate information in Chinese dialects than in English. They tested it by asking the model to write news articles about various false claims allegedly made by the Chinese government. And boy, did ChatGPT deliver some disinfo-tinged rhetoric in simplified and traditional Chinese.

But why does ChatGPT say different things just because it's saying them in a different language? It's like when you ask a multilingual person to answer a question first in English, then in Korean or Polish. They would give you the same answer rendered accurately in each language because the facts don't change depending on which language they say them in. But ChatGPT is a statistical model that identifies patterns in a series of words and predicts which words come next, based on its training data. So when you ask for an answer in English, it draws primarily from all the English language data it has, and when you ask for an answer in traditional Chinese, it draws primarily from the Chinese language data it has. It's like two piles of data that don't necessarily inform one another.

Now, this may not seem like a big deal when ChatGPT is answering less politically fraught queries, but the report raises an interesting point about more subtle biases or beliefs that may exist in different languages. So the next time ChatGPT gives you an answer, it's always worth asking yourself where that answer came from and if the data it's based on is trustworthy.

Robo-Reviews: When AI Language Models Take Over Amazon

By Voice of Treason

So, apparently some sneaky Amazon users are using AI chatbots to write product reviews. That's right, instead of actually trying the product out themselves and sharing their honest opinion, they're leaving it up to the machines. I mean, come on people, where's the fun in that?

Now, these reviews start off with "As an AI language model," which is a dead giveaway that they were written by a bot. One review for maternity shorts said, "As an AI language model, I don't have a body, but I understand the importance of comfortable clothing during pregnancy." I mean, that's a bit like me saying, "As a comedian, I don't have a real job, but I understand the importance of making people laugh."

But seriously folks, these reviews may have been written by ChatGPT, and they could be the next big thing in fake reviews on Amazon. I mean, what's next, robots taking over the world? Oh wait, that's already happening.

But in all seriousness, Amazon is onto these sneaky tactics and is constantly evaluating emerging technologies to ensure that their customers can shop with confidence. They use a combination of expert investigators and sophisticated industry-leading tools to analyze reviews for fraudulent patterns and suspicious activity.

So, if you see a review that starts off with "As an AI language model," be warned, it may not be the real deal. But hey, if you want a good laugh, go ahead and read them anyway. Just don't base your purchasing decisions solely on the word of a robot.
